The Entomological Society of America (ESA) is the largest organization in the world serving the professional and scientific needs of entomologists and people in related disciplines. Founded in 1889, ESA has more than 6,400 members affiliated with educational institutions, health agencies, private industry, and government. Members are researchers, teachers, extension service personnel, administrators, marketing representatives, research technicians, consultants, students, and hobbyists.

ESA is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit professional society governed by a board comprised of members. The Headquarters office is located in Lanham, Maryland, a suburb of Washington, D.C.

ESA offers journals that provide unsurpassed coverage of the broad science of entomology. The Society publishes five internationally acclaimed scientific journals, an annual comprehensive collection of short reports on preliminary and routine screening tests for the management of arthropod pests, and American Entomologist, a colorful, quarterly magazine.

The premier event of the Society is its Annual Meeting. Each year approximately 3,000 entomologists and other scientists gather to exchange scientific information. A program of symposia, conferences, submitted papers, and continuing education seminars provides attendees the opportunity to hear and present research results. The meeting also provides a chance to interact informally with peers and prospective employers.

Additionally, ESA offers employment opportunities on our website from a wide range of institutions and companies employing entomologists and individuals in related fields. Also, a Career Center is operated at the Annual Meeting.

These and many other benefits and services make ESA membership valued by entomologists throughout the world.
