AQUAETREAT
AquaEtreat is a European research project that examines the feasibility of developing and implementing cost-effective systems for the treatment of aquaculture farm effluent and the valorisation and reuse of the products and by-products.

AQUAFLOW
AquaFlow is a project funded by the European Commission to disseminate information about research projects in aquaculture. One-page summaries of research projects are made available in most European languages. It is coordinated by the European Aquaculture Society (EAS) and managed by EAS and the Federation of European Aquaculture Producers (FEAP) (Note – funding ceased at the end of 2003).

AQUALABS
A series of 6 advanced laboratory training courses for early-stage researchers in aquaculture, organised under the EC Marie Curie programme. Each course is at a different location with topics including molecular biology, aquaculture and the environment, fish welfare, quality of fish products, aquatic animal disease diagnostics and the design and operation of recirculation technologies.

AQUAREG
AquaReg is a co-operation between the regions of Galicia in Spain respresented by the CETMAR Foundation, Border, Midland and Western (BMW) in Ireland represented by The Marine Institute and Tr�ndelag in Norway represented by joint forces of the South Tr�ndelag and North Tr�ndelag counties. The overall objective of AquaReg is to provide opportunities and design strategies for sustainable development of peripheral coastal communities by promotion of interregional co-operation in aquaculture and fisheries

DIPNET
DIPNET is an EU Framework 6 project that aims to integrate and strengthen the current scientific knowledge on the potential transfer of pathogens and diseases between wild and cultured aquatic animal populations.

E-AQUA
e-aqua is a project co-financed by the EC programme Interreg III B “Atlantic Area” that has as main objective to encourage the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and promote e-commerce by all the economic players of the aquaculture strategic sector. The project consists of three coordinated actions: Observatory, Training and Consultancy.

GENESIS
The Development of a generic approach to sustainable integrated marine aquaculture for European environments and markets (Genesis) is the aim of this EC funded (5th Framework) project. Research sites have been established in Israel, France and the UK to study integrated land-based mariculture systems, supported by market studies and bio-economic modelling.

PANDA
The Permanent Advisory Network for Diseases in Aquaculture (PANDA) is an EU Framework 6 programme that aims to establish a permanent network of aquatic animal health specialists to provide a forum for the debate of issues concerning diseases in European aquaculture, and to communicate the results of these discussions to the European Commission with provision of advice on EU policy and legislation for aquatic animal health.

SEAFOODPLUS
A large EC funded project that aims to reduce health problems and increase well-being among European consumers by applying the benefits obtained through consumption of seafood, and to help ensure seafood is safe for consumers.

TRACEFISH
TraceFish was the short title for the “Traceability of Fish Products” concerted action project which ran from 2000-2002, co-ordinated by the Norwegian Institute of Fisheries and Aquaculture (Fiskeriforskning). The main outcome of TraceFish was three consensus-based standards for recording and exchange of traceability information in the seafood chains.
