Experience and innovation go hand in hand
At KUBO, we can look back on 65 years of greenhouse horticulture. KUBO is a family business with a stable base, currently run by the third generation. We look to the future and new developments, like we have always done, supported by the knowledge and experience that we have accumulated over the years.

Today, KUBO is a worldwide front-runner in the construction of sustainable, closed greenhouses. Our own research and development have driven unique innovations such as the Ultra Clima® greenhouse. We constantly invest in innovation and improvement; not just of entire greenhouse concepts, but also of façades, glazing bars with rubber, and gutters. This sets KUBO apart, both in innovative projects and in conventional greenhouses.

Greenhouse horticulture is undergoing major changes worldwide. Many of these changes have one keyword in common: sustainability. A greenhouse horticultural sector with a bright future will look beyond today.

We are dealing with an ever growing population, whilst natural resources are being depleted. We need to invest in renewable energy, efficient water management, reliable food safety and innovative production techniques. A greenhouse with a much higher total yield plays a pivotal role in these developments. Hence KUBO’s philosophy: ‘The future of greenhouses is blue’. Our innovative greenhouse construction projects combine the application of novel principles with the optimisation of our products. This makes us front runners in a greenhouse development that fits tomorrow’s philosophy. The future of greenhouses is blue!

First French Ultra Clima® greenhouse taken into production.
The eyes of many growers are on the French village of Le Cassoul de Baldony, where the first Ultra Clima® greenhouse was taken into production. At Tomatrio the first plants were put into a KUBO greenhouse measuring 3.7 hectares in late November. Tomatrio consciously opted for the Ultra Clima® concept: temperatures in the Provence region often drop far below freezing in winter. Not only that, growers in this region have to cope with scorching summers and the fierce mistral – an arid wind that can reach speeds above 100 km/hr and often keeps blowing for days on end. The mistral can occur at any time of the year, bringing cold air from the north in the winter and hot air in the summer.

The new KUBO greenhouse concept now makes it possible to grow crops here all year round, not only by creating the best possible climate conditions, but also because of the advantages offered by the cover, which is practically without window vents so that far more light can come through. The first harvest, with plants from Beekenkamp, is set for January. We are expecting a bumper crop: the plants are growing faster than ever in this sustainable greenhouse.
