At Cal Poly, we’re leading the agriculture industry into the future with a blend of new technology and energy. And we’re doing it while staying true to our roots and more than 100 years of tradition and hands-on learning.

We offer one of the nation’s most prestigious undergraduate agriculture programs, and you can’t beat our location: just 10 miles from the Pacific Ocean on the Central Coast, nestled between two of California’s premium wine regions: Paso Robles and the Edna Valley.

What will you find in College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences?

Small classes with expert faculty who take pride in their ability to transform academically motivated students into innovative professionals.

At the heart of a Cal Poly education is our renowned Learn by Doing tradition. Our students have access to state-of-the-art laboratories as well as the university’s 10,000 acres ofranchland, orchards, vineyards and forests – Cal Poly’s ‘living laboratories.’

Together, they provide the hands-on opportunities that are the essence of the Cal Poly experience.

Success in a Bottle for Cal Poly Student Winemakers

The 2007 student winemakers Mike Bruzus and Nicole Chamberlain hit pay dirt with a harvest that won accolades at the San Francisco International Wine Competition and the California Mid-State Fair. Mustang Red was the big winner, coming away from the San Francisco show with a rare double gold award. The first public pouring will be Homecoming weekend, as part of the Alumni Association tailgate activities. Watch the video to hear about the relatively new wine and vit program, the students and the real celebrities the wines, themselves.
