Gourmet Trading Company was founded in 1982 as an importer and distributor of fresh fruits and vegetables. Since then we have operated on the principle that cultivating relationships is as important as cultivating produce. We partner with the finest growers in South and Central America, Australia, New Zealand and the U.S. in order to consistently deliver the best produce to our customers. Our strong grower relationships, management of our own farms and continual investment in our business enable us to provide high-quality fruits and vegetables all year round. WORLDWIDE AND YEAR-ROUND ~ We have spent over twenty years building relationships with growers that have resulted in top-quality products available throughout the year. To ensure a year-round supply of green asparagus, we have established our own farms in Peru, built a state of the art asparagus packing facility in Washington State, plus we work closely with growers in Chile, Mexico and the U.S. Between our farms in California and New Zealand and our suppliers in Chile, Argentina, and the U.S., we are able to provide a twelve-month supply of blueberries. Our partners in Mexico, Guatemala, Chile, Argentina, and the U.S. keep our customers in blackberries and raspberries all year round.
SAFETY FIRST ~ Food safety is vital to everyone associated with Gourmet Trading Company, from farm managers to the ultimate consumer. All of our suppliers are involved in a rigorous third-party audit system, using licensed independent labs operating under HACCP and GAP standards. These audits ensure that all our products, no matter their origin, meet or exceed the required safety regulations.
BRICKS AND MORTAR MATTER ~ Our main offices are located in a 45,000 sq. ft. cooling facility and warehouse adjacent to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Our location means we have the advantage of being USDA compliant, which allows us greater control over cool chain management to protect the integrity of the product we handle. We have the first ozone-based hydrocooler in use in the U.S. This helps in the rehydration of our products and provides the benefits of ozone for food safety. ~ Our new warehouse in Miami has been built to our particular specifications. It provides 33,400 sq. ft. of temperature-controlled cooler space to maintain our products at their peak. Its location, close to one of our key points of entry, helps ensure efficient processing and rapid distribution to customers. Our packing facility in Washington state enables us to be in control of the quality of our aspraagus. In addition to quality, we can ensure that food safety measures are followed consistantly. ~ To provide the best service for customers and communication with suppliers, the Gourmet Group has additional offices in Auckland, New Zealand; Lima, Peru; Tokyo, Japan; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Caborca, Mexico; El Centro, CA; Miami, FL and Pasco, WA.
ANYWHERE, ANYTIME ~ As a bicoastal importer of berries and asparagus, we are positioned to handle products quickly to ensure absolute freshness. We load trucks around the clock, seven days a week, at our facilities in Miami and Los Angeles. After a rapid turnaround, we send them to nearby LAX or MIA with shipments bound for air freight or to the Los Angeles and Miami produce districts for drop-shipments or consolidation. We also load product FOB (McAllen, TX; El Centro and Salinas, CA and Pasco, WA).
