Guatemala Hydroponic Tomato Production
With about 450 acres of greenhouses and shadehouses — most of them built in the last five years — Guatemala is far behind Mexico’s 37,000-plus acres of protected agriculture. But don’t discount Guatemala, which can produce up to four times as many tomatoes per square meter than Mexico, thanks its proximity to the equator and to higher temperatures.
